SHERIDAN – The Lingle-Fort Laramie Dogger track and field teams finished second at the 1A East Regional Track and Field Meet in Sheridan over the weekend.

The Doggers will take seven individuals in 11 events and all four relay teams to Casper this weekend for the Wyoming Track and Field State Championships to be held at Kelly Walsh High School Thursday through Saturday.

Doggers, Lady Doggers second at 1A East Regionals

SHERIDAN – The Lingle-Fort Laramie Dogger track and field teams finished second at the 1A East Regional Track and Field Meet in Sheridan over the weekend.

The Doggers will take seven individuals in 11 events and all four relay teams to Casper this weekend for the Wyoming Track and Field State Championships to be held at Kelly Walsh High School Thursday through Saturday.

The 1,600-meter sprint medley relay team of Alex Pugsley, Dustin Swartwood, Cooper Hill and Kyland Fuller led the Doggers with a second-place finish in 4 minutes, 00.52 seconds.

The 4x100 team of Swartwood, Hill, Pugsley and Quirt Lee came home third in 49.12 seconds.

In the other running events, Fuller placed fourth in the 800-meter run in 2:08.58 and sixth in the 400-meter dash in 56.13 seconds. Lee was 10th in the 400 in 1:01.02.

Lee also placed 13th in the 200-meter dash in 26.81 seconds.

In field events, Dagan Davis paced a group of throwers with a third-place finish with a toss of 125 feet, 6 inches in the discus. Cordell Forkner was sixth at 114-3. Rayden Alonzo placed 10th at 93 feet, while Lane Freouf was 15th at 68-5.

In long jump, Hill’s leap of 18-0.5 was good for fifth, while Pugsley’s distance of 17-9.75 placed him seventh.

In pole vault, Jaden Houk was sixth at a height of 8-3.

As a team, the Doggers finished second with 37 points. Upton dominated the team title with 99 points. Hulett was third with 20.

Meanwhile, the Lady Doggers will take six individuals in 10 events and all four relay teams to Casper.

Kaelyn Riley led the charge with a trio of wins, scoring victories in the 100-meter dash (13.03 seconds), 200-meter dash (27.01 seconds) and the long jump (15-8.5).

Jordyn Gaspers picked up the fourth Lady Dogger win with a height of 4-7 in high jump. Kalli Nichol was fifth at 4-1.

In other field events, Savannah Mirich was second in shot put at 33-5.5, while teammate Sarah Searle was 15th at 17-10.5.

Cora Frederick was second in the 3,200-meter run in 13:32.05, while the 4x100-meter relay team of Nichol, Tiah Meyer, Gaspers and Frederick was also second in 57.57 seconds.

Jenna Kaufman finished sixth in the 800-meter run in 2:47.55.

As a team, the Lady Dogger placed second with 51 points. Kaycee won the team title with 95.5 points.

Action gets underway Thursday at 3 p.m. On Friday and Saturday, events get underway at 9 a.m.
