Doggers drop two by wide margins

LINGLE – The Lingle-Fort Laramie boys basketball team has hit a bit of a slump, falling at home Friday against Kaycee, 65-29, and on the road Saturday against Glenrock, 56-19, which was their 10th-straight loss.

Kaycee 65, L-FL 29

The Buckaroos got off to a hot start Friday in Lingle, especially from behind the arc. They took a 23-4 lead after the first eight minutes of action. The Doggers cut into the lead by a few points in the second quarter, heading into the break down 39-15. Kaycee continued its solid play by outscoring L-FL 12-9 in the third quarter to go up 51-24 with eight minutes to go. The visitors cruised to the 65-29 win after the Doggers were held to four points in the fourth quarter.

Cordell Forkner was the top scorer for the Doggers with nine points, including three from behind the arc. He also had five rebounds and a steal. Mason McFadden was not far behind, notching seven points, five rebounds and a steal of his own.

Bailey Powell chipped in five points, a board and the team’s only block, while Rhett Greenwald kicked in four points, three rebounds and two assists. Brandon and Hayden Hill rounded out the scoring with two points apiece, combining for four boards and a steal.

Cooper Hill, Scott Gilchriest and Caeden Riley combined for five rebounds and four assists.

Glenrock 56, L-FL 19

The Doggers suffered the same fate Saturday on the road against 2A’s Glenrock, falling 56-19.

McFadden stepped to the top of the scoring sheet with 10 points, which he paired with a team-high six rebounds, including two on offense.

Gilchriest chipped in four points and two rebounds, while Forkner, Greenwald and Brandon Hill combined for five points. Forkner notched five rebounds and an assist on the night, while Greenwald and Hill combined for three rebounds, an assist and a steal. Powell, Riley and Hayden and Cooper Hill combined for three rebounds, an assist and a steal. Gage Correa also kicked in a steal of his own.

L-FL has fallen in 10-straight games, putting its record on the season at 2-16. The Doggers close out the regular season this weekend by hosting Burns on Friday at 7 p.m., followed by a road game Saturday against Pine Bluffs at 4 p.m.
