TORRINGTON – A Celebration of Life for Delia May Swanson, 79, will be from 2 – 4 p.m. Aug. 11, 2018, for family and friends at St Rose Parish Hall in Torrington. Hope to see you in either a fancy hat or purple attire. Delia died July 22, 2018 at her home in Torrington and cremation has taken place. Memorials may be given to the drinks and snacks provided by the Cancer Infusion Lab at Regional West Medical Center. The Colyer Funeral Home assisted the family with the cremation arrangements.

Delia was born Feb. 24, 1939, in Mitchell, Neb., the daughter of Edward and Esther (Burback) Stitt. She grew up and received her education in Gering, Neb., graduating high school there in 1957. She then attended Scottsbluff Junior College for a year. 

She married Richard Swanson on Aug. 23, 1961, and they later separated. Delia worked as a credit manager for JC Penney Company in Denver, Colo., for 25 years. She retired in 2002. She moved to Torrington in 2006.

Delia enjoyed gardening, golf, counted cross stitch, giving care to the elderly, photography, scrap booking, stamp collecting, collecting teapots and coins. She was a member of St Rose Catholic Church and the Java Jar Coffee Club.

Delia is survived by two daughters Rhonda (Robert) Everman of Torrington, and Cynthia Fisher of Ramona, Calif.; a son Christopher Swanson of Parker, Colo.; a sister Violett (Floyd) Brunner of Scottsbluff; a brother Jerry (Patricia) Stitt of Torrington; her husband Richard of Torrington; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Eddie Stitt; and a half-sister Shirley Rexius.
