PINE BLUFFS – The Southeast High School football team won its second straight game Friday evening on the road against the Pine Bluffs Hornets, 17-9.

The Hornets grabbed an early lead courtesy of a fumble recovery for a touchdown.

The teams traded possessions throughout the remainder of the quarter, but junior quarterback Hayden Anderson cracked the end zone for a touchdown to even the score. Sophomore Ryan Clapper added the point after to give the Cyclones a 7-6 advantage.

In the second quarter, Anderson connected with Clapper on a 70-yard completion for six more points. After Clapper’s point after, it pushed the Southeast lead to 14-6.

Clapper added three more points at the end of the second quarter with a 34-yard field goal, pushing the Cyclone lead to 11 at the break.

Coming out of the locker room, the teams traded possessions throughout the quarter until Pine Bluffs broke the stalemate with a field goal in the fourth, but that proved to be as close as the home team came for the remainder of the game, as Southeast spoiled Pine Bluffs Homecoming.

Southeast (2-1 overall and 1-0 in the 1A East) will host the Niobrara County Tigers (2-1 and 1-1) at 7 p.m. Friday.
