GoCo Historical Society changes meetings
TORRINGTON – Goshen County Historical Society meets the fourth Tuesday of the month, September through May, beginning at 7 p.m., in the Community Room of the Platte Valley Bank branch office, 2201 Main St. in Torrington.
Officers for the Historic Society are President Mary Houser, Vice-president Russell Zimmer, Treasurer Ross Burmaster and secretary Jennifer Lanier. The group’s Board of Directors are Chuck Coleman, Pat Ellis, Don Hodgson, George Zeimens and Vickie Zimmer.

Goshen County Democrats
TORRINGTON – The Goshen County Democratic Party invites and welcomes interested county residents to their monthly meetings, held on the fourth Tuesday of every month, 6 p.m. at the Goshen County Library Annex, 2017 East A St. in Torrington.

Overeaters Anonymous
TORRINGTON – The Torrington chapter of Overeaters Anonymous hosts two meetings Tuesdays locally. The organization is a 12-step group designed to help stop compulsive eating and food behaviors while working toward attaining and maintaining healthy body weight.

Discussion group invites public
TORRINGTON – The Political Discussion Group of the Goshen County Democratic Women invites interested area women to a series of round-table meetings.

GCDW has organized the sessions to discuss local, state and national issues. Beginning Jan. 17, the group plans to meet the first and third Wednesdays of the month, with some exceptions for intervening holidays, at 10 a.m. at the Library Annex.

Fill-a-bag with books
TORRINGTON – The Goshen County Library Foundation will host a special, week-long book sale in January.
The Fill-A-Bag Book Sale is scheduled for Jan. 8 to 13 at the Library Foundation Activity Center, north of the Central Library building on East A Street in Torrington. Shoppers may fill a bag of books for $15.

EWC to host Financial Peace training
TORRINGTON – Eastern Wyoming College here will host a series of classes promising to teach people how to achieve financial peace of mind
Financial Peace University is the brainchild of Dave Ramsey and his Brentwood, Tenn.-based Ramsey Solutions. The nine-week course teaches budgeting, relationships and money, ways to get out of debt, how to save for emergencies and investing.

Right to Life Breakfast set
TORRINGTON – The St. Rose Parish Knights of Columbus in Torrington will host its annual Soufflé breakfast to support Goshen County Right to Life.
The breakfast will be held in the St. Rose Parish Social Hall, 605 E 22nd Ave., in Torrington, from 8 a.m. till noon, Sunday, Jan. 28. Tickets will be available at the door, or by calling (307) 532-4594.
Goshen County Right to Life meets at 7 p.m., every third Monday, in the Brand Room at the Goshen County Fairgrounds.
 
Food distribution set
TORRINGTON – Wyoming Food Bank of the Rockies will bring its mobile food pantry to the Ford Pavilion at the Goshen County Fairgrounds next month.
Hosted by the Goshen County Ministerial Association, the food distribution event is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5. The time change is to better accommodate working individuals and families in need of food assistance.
The Ministerial Association is currently seeking volunteers, as well as monetary donations to assist in covering the approximately $2,000 cost of each food bank event. Volunteers and donations are sought for the February event, as well as for regular monthly events in March, April and May.
Individuals wishing to volunteer are asked to arrive at the Pavilion no later than 5 p.m. to assist in setting up. For additional information, call (307) 532-2977.
