TORRINGTON – After weather forced the delay of the Torrington City League Championship by a day, the Yankees defeated the Giants 16-3 in four innings.

The Giants looked to get off to a quick start with three runs in the top of the opening inning.

Beaux Shimic drove in the Giants first run of the game and Ayden Schimic drove in two more to give the Giants a 3-0 lead. That proved to be the only offense the Giants produced all game.

The Yankees countered with six runs in the bottom of the first.

Mateo Correa began the scoring for the Yankees on a wild pitch. Correa capped off the frame with a bases loaded walk to give his team a 5-3 heading to the second inning.

The Yankees added four more in the bottom of the second and six more in the third, while allowing only one more Giant baserunner the remainder of the game.
