TORRINGTON – Despite improving to 2-0 on the season, the Torrington High School boys’ soccer fell out of the latest WyoPreps.com Coaches and Media Poll which was released Wednesday morning.
Buffalo and Green River leap frogged the Blazers, knocking them out of the top five despite a 3-2 win over Douglas over the weekend.
Worland still holds down the top spot, earning 10 of the 13 possible first-place votes, while Powell and Cody are No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. Buffalo comes in at No. 4, while Lander Valley and Green River are tied for fifth. Torrington received one third-place vote, one fourth-place vote and three fifth-place votes.
With Thursday’s game against Rawlins being postponed, the top-ranked Worland Warriors await the Blazers in a rematch of last season’s 3A state championship game in Worland on Friday, April 14. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Meanwhile, in the girls’ division, Cody and Lander Valley remain No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. Buffalo and Green River moved up one spot each to No. 3 and No. 4. Worland cracked the top five this week for the first time this season, while Mountain View fell from the No. 3 spot to outside the top five.
The Torrington Lady Blazers travel to face the Worland Lady Warriors at 4 p.m. Friday, April 14.
