CHEYENNE – The Torrington High School wrestling team fell 60-21 to Class 4A Cheyenne East High School on Tuesday evening.
After beginning the evening down 6-0 due to an open weight at 285 pounds, THS’s Nolan Long tied the match at six with a fall over Cory Bomhoff at 106 pounds.
The Indians countered with wins at 113, 120 and 126 before Michael Sandusky scored Torrington’s second pin of the night at 132 pounds over Cole Hilliker.
Cheyenne Central rattled off five more wins before Gabe Mitchell scored a 9-6 win over Jarrod Dilly at 182 pounds.
In the 195-pound bout, Rhiley Grubbs got a fall victory over Joseph Brukeck, and Torrington was open at 220 in the final match of the night.
In the junior varsity matches, Matthew Hellus picked up the team’s only win in the six matches leading up to the varsity action.
The Blazers are back at home on Saturday, Jan. 18, hosting the Blazer Duals.
Lingle-Fort Laramie, Buffalo, Burns-Pine Bluffs, Glenrock, Laramie, Newcastle/Upton, Niobrara County and Wheatland are also scheduled to attend the day-long, dual-format tournament.
Action gets under way at 9 a.m. at Willi Gym.
