Between the lines: I’m back!

TORRINGTON – I’m back to where my professional career started.
In April of 2012, I had really no clue what I was getting into when I made the move from Kansas to Wyoming. Outside of some freelance work, I didn’t have much experience in the journalism field.
With a lot of patience from Rob Mortimore and Jeff Robertson, I felt like I found my place in the newspaper business in a short amount of time.
When I first moved to Torrington in the spring of that year, I had set a goal for myself of two years and then moving on to greener pastures. However, the two years went by quickly, and I found out I was having a good time. I had made a lot of new friends, and I felt like things were going well. So, I decided to stick around a little longer.
Finally, in July of 2015, the Chanute (Kan.) Tribune called – my hometown newspaper.

It proved difficult to say no to. A chance to get closer to home. A chance to get closer to my family. A chance to move on to a larger, daily paper. A chance to cover my beloved Kansas City Royals and Chiefs.
As I found out, things aren’t always greener on the other side of the fence, but three years later, I get a text asking if I would consider moving back.
I can be slow in making big life decisions like moving 12 hours from home for a second time, but down deep, I knew it was a no-brainer.
I’m returning to Southeast Wyoming with a new energy, passion and respect for the people of Goshen County and surrounding area.
When I drove around town last weekend for the first time after arriving, it amazed me how quickly everything came back to me despite the lengthy time away. I had no trouble finding my way around town.
Despite that, there were several things that stood out to me right away: new businesses, new signage directing people to the fairgrounds, the sports complex, ect., and the new buildings on the Eastern Wyoming College campus.
It just goes to show, this community is taking steps forward and that I made the right decision to come back.
Many of you I already know. Some, I may not.
Either way, I’m really looking forward to either getting to meet you for the first time or renewing our connection after three years away.
Don’t hesitate to stop me if you see me out and about to say hi.
