TORRINGTON – The Southeast Wyoming Art Association has issued a call for submissions to its annual show.
Artists in any media are invited to submit entries at The Loft at 21st and Main from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 2. Fees for professional, advanced amateur and amateur divisions is $7 per entry; teen division fee is $4 per entry. Contact Jane Dornat, 640-4002, for an entry invitation.
There will be cash prizes in each division. More than $600 in gift certificates will also be presented to winning entries selected by local merchants.
Categories include oil/acrylic; watercolor/mixed media; drawing media, including pencil, charcoal, colored pastel and etching; bronze/wood carving/sculpture, and; other unlisted media. Artists may enter any number of works. Pieces may not have been shown before and must be created within the last three years.
A public reception, with a chance to meet the judge and view the winning works, will be 2 p.m. Saturday May 4. Works will remain on exhibit from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, May 6, through Friday, May 10, and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 11.
This year’s judge is Forrest Vanier, a former Torrington Middle School art teacher and community education art instructor. Vanier has a bachelor of art education degree from Western Michigan University and a masters in curriculum, instruction and assessment from Walden University.
Artist may pick up their works from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 11.
