TORRINGTON – Alice L. Davis, 77, died Sept. 3, 2018, at the Goshen Care Center in Torrington.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2018 at First Baptist Church with Pastor Larry Benjamin officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Eye Fund and/or the Cancer Society in Alice’s name.

Visitation will be Monday, Sept. 10, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Alice was born Jan. 20, 1941, at home on the family farm Southwest of Lingle, the daughter of Henry Charles and Phoebe Grace (Kinner) Lampman. She attended school in Fort Laramie. Alice worked with her family at the Fort Laramie Café. She later worked at Randolph’s Café in Torrington. 

She met and married Samuel James Davis in Oct. 2, 1960, and the couple resided in Torrington. Alice babysat for children in the community and then opened Davis Home Daycare in 1977, where she worked until she retired in 2000. 

Alice was a member of the Nazarene Church, where she was a past board member and a Sunday school teacher, teaching all ages. She was a member of the Women’s Bowling League for many years and was also a member of the CB Diesel Control. Alice enjoyed embroidery, children, reading, Christian and Western music and she never knew a stranger. She was a people person who loved everyone and was always there for family and friends.

Survivors include her son James (Melissa) Davis of Torrington; daughter Debra (Jerry) Huckfeldt of Torrington; son Ronald (Macaria) Davis of Torrington; sister Edith Clabaugh of Torrington, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. 

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; her brother Charles Lampman; and her sisters, MaryLu Gawith, Henrietta Muller, Guelda Mastrude and Dorothy Hickman.
