TORRINGTON – Funeral services for Albert Hopp, 96, will be 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2018, at Our Savior Lutheran Church with the Rev. Scott Firminhac officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. 

Albert died Nov. 13, 2018, at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, Colo. Memorials may be given to Our Savior Lutheran Church. Visitation will be prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are by the Colyer Funeral Home and condolences may be sent to www.colyerfuneralhome.com. 

Albert was born Sept. 16, 1922, in Minatare, Neb., the son of Carl and Anna (Grebe) Hopp. He received his education in country schools, ending up at the Huntley school. 

He entered the U.S. Navy in October 1944. He married Elsie Schaneman on Dec. 6, 1945, in Lyman, Neb. He was discharged in March 1946 and returned to Wyoming. 

He worked two years as an oilfield pumper and then farmed for 19 years for other farmers before buying a farm that he farmed for 10 years. They moved to Torrington and he farmed west of town for eight years on the Davis farm and did custom farming for others along the railroad west of town. 

He later owned and operated Goshen Discount store on Highway 26/85 where he sold furniture, carpet, tires and many other things from 1975 until 1985.

Albert enjoyed eating out, dancing, traveling and gardening, especially roses. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, the VFW and the American Legion.

Albert is survived by his wife of 73 years, Elsie Hopp of Torrington; two sons, Johnny (Debbie) Hopp of Gillette and Mark Hopp of Torrington; four sisters, Elsie Schwartzkopf of Missouri, Alma Bawer of Worland, Virginia Harmon of Scottsbluff, Neb., and Lucille Hopp of Iowa; two grandchildren and one great-grandson. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Clinton Albert Hopp; two brothers, Dave and Carl Hopp; and three sisters, Lea Meininger, Viola Schriner and Irene Hopp.
