Modified: Wednesday, Sep 22nd, 2010

Wyoming Highway Patrol Trooper Tom Pritchard investigates the scene of the fatal crash Saturday morning.

A husband and wife from Torrington were killed Friday evening near Huntley in a car wreck involving a semitrailer.

Willis Davis, 73, and wife Marnell Davis, 70, died at the scene, according to a report from the Wyoming Highway Patrol. Marnell was celebrating her 70th birthday. Both were wearing seatbelts.

While driving a 2006 Dodge pickup northbound on Wyoming Highway 92, Willis’ vehicle collided with the last axle of a semitrailer heading south that crossed over the centerline. The commercial truck belonged to P&P Pipeliners and was driven by 34-year-old Jamie Brunner of Minatare, Neb. Brunner was treated and released at the scene.

A third passenger in the Dodge pickup truck, Marnell’s sister Carol Scott, was extricated from the vehicle, transported to Community Hospital in Torrington and later transferred via AirLink to Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Neb. The 72-year-old victim is of Sacramento, Calif. and was expected to make a recovery, Goshen County Sheriff’s Captain Bryan Morehouse said.

The crash occurred at approximately 4:39 p.m. near mile marker six on the highway. The 911 call for the accident came into dispatch at 4:48 p.m.

All information will be turned over to the Goshen County Attorney’s Office upon completion of the final crash report.
