John C. Knight

May 9, 1923 - January 30, 2010



John C. Knight, 86, of Laramie, died Saturday, Jan. 30, at Ivinson Memorial Hospital. He was born May 9, 1923, in Torrington, the son of Earl Oliver and Mary Elma (Pierson) Knight. He received his schooling in Torrington and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He then attended the University of Wyoming for a couple years before taking employment with the U.S. Postal Service as a clerk, retiring in 1988. He married Beverly Elwood in Laramie Jan. 12, 1963.

He was a member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 582, the Hunted-Pendleton American Legion Post No. 14, the Veterans for Foreign Wars Post No. 2221 and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge No. 390.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Karen, and all of his siblings.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Beverly Knight; his daughters, Barbara Farmer of Laramie, Connie Baker and her husband Dick of Lusk; a son Charles Knight of Sheridan; and his grandchildren, Cindy Wood and her husband Chris, Tara Ross and her husband Scott, Toni Gaukel and her husband Kurt and Ty Baker and his wife Lynnette. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
