Linda was born Sept. 25, 1956, in Watseka, Ill., the daughter of Richard and Betty (Garfield) Martin. She was the third of three children, grew up and graduated from Sheldon High School in 1974. In the fall of 1974 she went into the armed services for nine and a half years specializing in electronics and communications. She moved to Torrington in 1984 where she graduated for Eastern Wyoming College with a business degree and then attended the University of Wyoming. She met Barry Arnold in 1983 and they married on Oct. 22, 1993, and in 1994 they had a son, Dan Arnold.
Linda fought a long hard battle with cancer and never gave up. She enjoyed camping, family activities, knitting, crocheting, solving puzzles, watching sports on TV, and enjoyed music from classical to B-Bop and even some of Dan’s music. Her advice to her family was to “always do your best.” She was proudest of her husband’s and son’s many accomplishments. She loved watching Dan play sports. She had a strong commitment, love, and passion for her family as well as to life, until her passing. She was employed by Torrington Disposal Service.
Linda is survived by her husband Barry and son Dan of Torrington; brother William “Willie” Martin and his wife Tonya and their two children Cesar and Anglea of Wylie, Texas; her sister Laura Martin of Moore, Okla.; mother and father-in-law Betty and Louis Arnold, brother-in-law Lindsey Arnold, and sister-in-law Linda York and her husband Larry all of Hawk Springs; one great uncle; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; maternal grandparents and great-grandparents; a great uncle; and a great aunt.
