Catherine ‘Jean’ Cardaropoli

Memorial services for Catherine “Jean” Cardaropoli, 74, will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 29, at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tom Kittleman officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. Jean died at her daughters home in Torrington on Jan. 26. Cremation has taken place. Memorials may be made to either Pet Pals or Waggin’ Tails Animal Shelter. Jean was born May 14, 1935, in Lansing, Mich., the daughter of William and Auttie (Wilcox) Hillcoat. The family moved to California where she grew up and received her education. After graduating from high school she worked as a clerk for 10 years for the Orange County Juvenile Court helping with mentally challenged children. She moved with her second husband to Torrington in 1968 for four years and then back to California. She divorced and then met and married Anthony Cardaropoli on Aug. 24, 1980, in Santa Anna, Calif. They later moved to Torrington where she worked various jobs mainly waitressing at Little Moon Lake Supper Club. Tony died in 2000 and she retired that year as well.
Jean enjoyed bowling and crafts mainly wood or painting. For 10 years she was a member of the Motorcycle Association in California.
Jean is survived by two daughters, Cam Seigal of Torrington and Lauri Zumwalt of Brady, Neb.; five grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Tony.
