Eastern Wyoming College sophomore Danielle Brown had 17 points, 10 rebounds and four steals to lead the Lancer women’s basketball team to a 77-39 victory over Little Big Horn College (Mont.) on Saturday while Marque Lunderman tallied 14 points and 12 rebounds in a victory over McCook (Neb.) Community College on Friday at the Northeastern Junior College Tournament in Sterling, Colo.
With the two victories, the Lancers improve their overall record to 3-1 on the season.
Against McCook on Friday, the Lancers hit 9-of-21 shots from the floor in the first half to take a 29-27 lead at intermission before outscoring McCook 35-30 in the final 20 minutes.
The Lady Lancers led by 11 with just under a minute to go in regulation.
McCook out-shot the Lancers from the floor, hitting 20-of-41 shots to the Lancers’ 13-of-33, but Eastern Wyoming held the advantage at the free throw line with six more free throws made and outscored McCook 27-12 from three-point range.
Lunderman went 6-of-15 from the floor for her 14 points while sophomore Jessica Brown was 7-of-14 from the floor with 14 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals. Sophomore Koel Hall finished with 13 points on 4-of-6 shooting from three-point distance with three rebounds. Danielle Brown ended with eight points – all from the free throw line – while April Johnson had six points and Sarah Smith added four points.
On Saturday, Eastern Wyoming held Little Big Horn to 31 percent shooting in the first half en route to a 38-15 lead and never looked back.
The Lancers ended the contest hitting 19-of-39 shots from the floor and 10-of-28 from three-point range while Little Big Horn was 18-of-40 from the floor and 1-of-12 from long distance.
Danielle Brown hit 7-of-15 shots from the floor for 17 points while Lunderman had a game-high 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting. Jessica Brown added 11 points, seven rebounds, six steals and three assists while Jayde Schelling had nine points, five rebounds and five assists.
Johnson tallied eight points and four rebounds for the Lancers while Smith had six points, three rebounds and two steals. Noelle Jones chipped in four points in 12 minutes of action while Hall and Amanda Royer each added two points.
