Posted: Tuesday, Jul 8th, 2014

March 7, 1992-June 29, 2014

TORRINGTON – Johnny Andrew Ornelas, 22, of Torrington, formerly of Julesburg, Colo., passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014. Visitation was held Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Austin-Tennant Funeral Home in Julesburg from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and also Thursday, July 3, from noon to 6 p.m.

Funeral services were held Friday, July 4, 2014 at the Julesburg High School at 10 a.m. with Pastor Alan Harris officiating. Burial followed at Hillside Cemetery in Julesburg.

Johnny Andrew Ornelas, AKA Johnny the Jet and Johnny no guns, was born March 7, 1992 in Garden Grove, Calif., to Ricky Ornelas and Bobbie Lynn Ramos. He moved to Julesburg at the age of 2 and was a resident until he graduated high school in 2011. He then moved to Torrington to start his career as a corrections officer for the state of Wyoming.

Growing up in Julesburg, Johnny touched many lives and made friends easily with his great sense of humor and ornery antics. Everyone that knew Johnny knew he lit up the room when he walked in and could bring a smile to anyone’s face.

Johnny was an avid athlete and competed in football, basketball, baseball and track in high school. He was All-State in all sports and was the state champion in pole vault his senior year. He lettered in all four sports all four years.

After graduation, Johnny still stayed active with friends and family, as he enjoyed going to the lake, playing games and helping anyone in their time of need. Johnny also kept his goofball attitude after high school, as you could find him singing Backstreet Boys in the shower or saying random, off-the-wall things to catch you off guard. He will be greatly missed!

Johnny passed away doing what he loves on June 29, 2014 at the lake in Guernsey. He is survived by his loving parents, Ricky and Pamela Ornelas and Bobbie Lynn Ramos; brothers, Junior Ornelas (Ashlea and nieces Analeia, Adelyn), David Collins, Cody Collins (Wendi) and Dwayne Fraire; sisters Sophia Baladez (Phillip), Jackie Lynn Ramos and family and Lupita Rios and family; grandparents Barbara Neugebauer, Randy and Sandy Guillen.

Also many uncles, aunts and cousins, including Joe Neugebauer (Corrina), cousins Willy, Tyler, Kory; Larry Neugebauer (Tera), cousins Nicole, Spencer, Josh, Amriel; Gene Neugebauer (Dana), cousins Jillian, Allison; Kristin Clancy (Steve); nephew Aaron Stryker; Jose Ornelas (Eva) and family; Lydia Garibay (Rafael) and family; Irene Roman (Larry) and family; Juan Ornelas and family; Theresa Tejeda (Raymond) and family; Gabriela Navarro (Miguel) and family; and Maria Ornelas and family.
