Local archaeologist invited to present at Smithsonian

Courtesy - The Hell Gap site, located in Goshen County, has a wealth of artifacts that archaeologists like George Zeimens study. Zeimens will head to Washington, D.C. this week to give a presentation on another excavation site at the old Sunrise mine.


TORRINGTON – Local archaeologist and Western History Center Director George Zeimens is traveling this week to Washington, D.C. to give a presentation on an area Paleo-Indian excavation site at the invitation of the Smithsonian.

“Dr. George Frison and I have been invited back to the Smithsonian to do a presentation to colleagues on a site we’ve been working on here locally,” Zeimens said.
