Thanks to “Letters to the Editor”, Goshen County is now better informed about a proposed recreation center. Taxpayers have a little better understanding of what may be motivating some of the people promoting the recreation project. Information helps us do a better job of sorting facts from fiction.
When we consider investing in sizable, non-essential infrastructure, we should utilize, without bias, all available information. Thank you Torrington Telegram for providing a very valuable tool. I hope we move forward with an open mind and good judgment, with or without a recreation center.
Torrington has everything but an indoor pool. We already have gyms located throughout the county. With proper management, their locations could better serve people than a Y in Torrington, and we wouldn’t be creating infrastructure to maintain and more taxes to pay. If we must spend, let’s spend it wisely!
There aren’t enough restaurants in Torrington to feed all of Goshen County at one time. Food is more critical than recreation. Must the taxpayers build and maintain more restaurants? Think!
