Nov. 18, 1939-Jan. 19, 2014
BRUSH, Colo. – Beatrice “Carol” Franklin, born in Brush on Nov. 18, 1939, died peacefully on Jan. 19, 2014 at the Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton, Okla., after a long illness. She was 74.
Strong in her faith, she attended and was confirmed at the First United Church of Christ. Carol graduated from Brush High School in 1958. Shortly thereafter, she attended Cosmetology School in Greeley, Colo., and went on to run a successful business for more than 18 years. She was the beloved owner of Carol’s House of Beauty and a treasured member of the Brush community.
In 1971, she met the love of her life, Larry, and they were married that following year. They enjoyed a wonderful life together that took them to Broomsfield, Colo., Visalia, Calif., and then Torrington, where they raised their three children.
Married more than 42 years, she loved to camp, fish and travel and took numerous cruises, but the most enjoyable time of her life was just spending her days with her husband.
Carol was preceded in death by her father, John R., and her mother, Pauline Koehler. She is survived by her brother Albert; her husband, Larry; and their three children, Lee and his wife Sherry, Patty and Carole and her partner Jason; and her seven grandchildren, Ashlee, Ellee, Shelby, Joshua, Brayden, Arianna and Kiera. She also leaves behind six nieces and nephews and a number of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at the Immanuel Congregational Church in Brush on Jan. 24 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the First Congregational Church in Torrington.
