TORRINGTON – A Cheyenne man changed his plea to no contest Monday morning in District Court on four felonies stemming from a vehicle accident in January.
Ethan Kaufman, 23, pled not guilty in February to two counts of aggravated homicide by vehicle and two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and causing serious bodily injury following an accident that left two young women dead and three men seriously hurt.
The no contest plea, while not an admission of guilt, means sentencing will be left up to the court, similar to a guilty plea. Kaufman’s bond was revoked, and he will be held in the Goshen County Detention Center until his sentencing. District Court Judge Keith Kautz ordered completion of a pre-sentencing investigation report prior to the next court date.
