Sept. 29, 1927-Aug. 12, 2013

TORRINGTON Willie Alice Mitchell passed away Aug. 12, 2013, at Community Hospital in Torrington at the age of 85. She was born Sept. 29, 1927, in Atoka, Okla. to William and Myrtle (Tadlock) Macom.

In 1950, Alice married Thomas Mitchell of Torrington. The family moved to Lusk in 1963, where she worked as a dental assistant and a cook at the school cafeteria. Alice was a member of the Episcopal Church in Lusk.

She loved cooking, baking, reading, spending time with family and was an avid fan of the Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies and horseracing. She adored all her grandchildren and thought they were the greatest kids alive, doing no wrong.

Alice is survived by two sons: Jack (Jean) Mitchell of Cheyenne and Tom (Maxine) Mitchell; and daughter Georgia Crumby, all of Torrington; four sisters: Connie Childers of Fort Bragg, Calif., Catherine Burrow of Benton, Ark., Earlene Kilcrease of Kingsport, Tenn., and Jane Powell of Portland, Ore.; seven grandchildren: Dan (Carrie) Mitchell, Skip Jensen, John (DeAnna) Mitchell, Bill (Kelly) Mitchell, Christa Souder, Chad Mitchell and Mindy (Tory) Bugher; 12 great grandchildren; special friend John Ford of Torrington and the Cassel Family of Scottsbluff, Neb.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Myrtle; husband, Tom; daughter, Bobbie Jensen-Sauder; granddaughter, Carrie Ann Mitchell; brother, Virgil Macom; and sisters, Marie Putnam and Ruby Hedges.

Coyler Funeral Home is in charge of cremation. A memorial service will take place at North Hills Baptist Church in Lingle on Aug. 24, 2013 at 2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Goshen County Library.
