Letter to the editor: Where are the military cuts?

Posted: Wednesday, Jul 3rd, 2013

We heard there would be spending cuts all the way from head-start schools to the military and we heard the crybabies wail and mourn, but it was not 5-year-old, head-start students crying, it was all from the military and military industry who suck up tax dollars.

Instead of cutting military spending, billions more were added, with the U.S. House of Representatives passing a $638 billion defense bill that should be called the National Waste Bill.

And we heard that Congress was outraged over the 26,000 sexual assaults in the military in 2012.

And what did they do about their outrage? The U.S. House bill would require a minimum of two years in prison if convicted in a military court.

What they did is make rape a minor crime that still treats rape as a joke.
