Hay prices remain strong in North Platte Valley

TORRINGTON – According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), hay remains Wyoming’s most valuable agricultural crop, with an estimated value of over $300 million. And with this year’s first cutting almost complete, it doesn’t appear that hay will any cheaper this year than it was last year.

Last week’s USDA’s Ag Market News reported that prices for all classes of hay remain steady to a little higher in some areas as compared to last year’s prices. Those prices may increase, however, as supplies steady.
