TORRINGTON – Memorial services for Larry R. Harvey, 75, will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at the Community Presbyterian Church in Lingle with Rev. Curtis Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery.
Larry died on May 7, 2013 at the Torrington Community Hospital, and cremation has taken place. Those who wish may direct memorial contributions to the Lingle Presbyterian Church. Larry was born on June 19, 1937 in Gering, Neb., the son of Ace and Wilmetta (Fleck) Harvey. The family moved to Harrisburg, Neb. and then later to Nappa, Idaho for a time before buying a farm south of Lingle.
Larry graduated from Lingle High School in 1956. He then worked at C F & I Sunrise Mine and helped his father farm. Following the death of his father, Larry took over the farming for his mother. He married Carolyn Walker and they bought a couple of adjoining farms. Larry also farmed the Amos Gillaspie farm. He and Carolyn sold the farms in 2003, retired and moved to Torrington.
Larry was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church at Lingle, served on the Wyoming State Wheat Commission, was a member of the Torrington Masonic Lodge and the Torrington Shrine Club.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn of Torrington; two brothers, Gerald (Maria) Harvey and LeRoy (June) Harvey, all of Cheyenne; and two nieces, Janell (Drew) Price-Smith of Colorado Springs, Colo., and LuAnn Harvey of Portland, Ore. He was preceded in death by his parents.
