Aug. 24, 1957-April 11, 2013

LOVELAND, Colo. – Larry Edward “Ed” Barnes passed away suddenly April 11, 2013 at the Medical Center of the Rockies after being unable to recover from emergency surgery. Cremation has already taken place. A Memorial Service for Ed will be held on Friday, April 26 at 2 p.m. at the Torrington VFW Hall.

Ed was born on Aug. 24, 1957, to Larry and Laverene (Hacker) Barnes in Torrington. Ed was raised in Torrington and graduated from Torrington High School in 1976.

Ed enlisted in the Army shortly after graduation and was stationed in Hawaii, the Philippines and Korea. He was honorably discharged after four years of service. Upon returning to Torrington, he met and married the love of his life, Glenda Blunt, on Dec. 28, 1981, and he raised and loved her two children, Zee and Don Bradshaw, as his own.

Ed held different jobs during his life, from milking cows to working with his dad, at Farr Wyo/Kelly Bean, Holly Sugar, Wyoming Ethanol and, most recently, for his brother-in-law at CA Stoeger Construction.

Ed’s biggest joy was being a grandpa to Hailey Bradshaw-Finch, her being his favorite person in the world. He treasured his children and family, showing his devotion by his teasing nature.

Ed is survived by his children, Zee (Anthony) Bradshaw of Larchmont, N.Y., and Donovan Bradshaw of Deadwood, S.D.; his granddaughter, Hailey Bradshaw; his brother, Kenny (Kathy) Barnes; sisters, Deb (Chuck) Stoeger, Patty (Brad) Essert and Karen (Scott) Lacey, all of Torrington, and Cindy (Randy) Wiggins of Scottsbluff, Neb.; and two half-sisters, Jenny (Fred) Currier of Torrington and Shirley (Kenny) Thrasher of Iowa; along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Ed was preceded in death by his wife Glenda on Jan. 13, 2013; his parents, Larry and Laverene Barnes; his maternal and paternal grandparents; mother in law, Phyllis Blunt; and grand-mother-in-law, Birdie “Grammy” Marlatt.

Ed will be dearly missed by his friends and family. Memorials in Ed’s name may be sent to Waggin’ Tails Animal Shelter.
