TORRINGTON A Memorial Funeral Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Henry A. Dicken, 88, at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013 at St. Rose Catholic Church with Rev. Father Ray Moss officiating. Burial followed in the Valley View Cemetery.

Henry died Jan. 23, 2013 at Community Hospital, and cremation has taken place. A rosary was recited at the church Monday. Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home, and friends may send condolences to the family at www.colyerfuneralhome.com.

Henry was born June 5, 1924 in Torrington, the son of Ishom and Minnie (Quade) Dicken. He grew up and received his education in Torrington, graduating high school there. He entered the military in 1945 and was discharged in 1946.

Upon his return to Torrington, he met and married Barbara Jean Biator, and they were later divorced.

They lived in Utah until 1966, when they came to Torrington and worked for Torrington Livestock Auctions and for his brother on the farm. He married Ophelia Martinez in Reno, Nev. They lived in California until the early 1980s when they moved back to Torrington and he again worked for the sale barn and his brother on the farm. He retired in the early 1990s.

Henry enjoyed fishing, hunting, and walking. He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, the VFW, the Elks and the American Legion.

Henry is survived by his wife, Ophelia, of Torrington; three daughters, Kathy Mark of Torrington, Janette Ball and her husband Jeff of Marble Falls, Texas, and Sandy Veal and her husband Randy of Gillette; a son, Patrick Dicken and wife Terri of Chicago, Ill.; two sisters, Adeline McAlister and husband Joe Bill of San Antonio, Texas, and Dorothy Georing of Farmsworth, N.M.; nine grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; four brothers, Marion, Leslie, David and Oliver; two sisters, Rosemary and Shirley; a son, Jonathon; and a great grandson, Jonathon.
