TORRINGTON Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Michael William Guth, 56, on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church with Rev. Father Ray Moss officiating.

Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. Visitation hours will be held at the Colyer Funeral Home on Friday, Dec. 28 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Michael died suddenly Dec. 26, 2012 at his home in Pinedale, Wyo.

Those who wish may direct memorial contributions in his honor to the Junior Golf Program at Cottonwood Country Club in Torrington. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home and friends are invited to send condolences to the family at www.colyerfuneralhome.com.

Michael was born on March 5, 1956 in Torrington, the son of Bill and Sally (Wray) Guth. He grew up and received his education; graduating Torrington High School in 1974. He went on to attend EWC and the University of Wyoming. He married Valeri Jacobs in 1981 and the couple later divorced.

Michael then went to work in the chemical industry in Casper and Fort Morgan, Colo., and Louisiana and California. He was also self-employed in the carpet business in Fort Collins, Colo., for several years. Michael went to work for Champion Technologies in Pinedale in 2012.

Mike enjoyed fishing, hunting, and catching up with family and old friends. He especially loved to play golf.

He is survived by his son, Landon Guth of Fort Collins; his parents, Bill and Sally Guth of Torrington; sister Susan (Gary) Schwindt of Torrington; two brothers, Joe (Gaylene) Guth of Torrington and Jeffrey Guth of Long Beach, Calif.; his long time companion, Maureen Merritt of Alliance, Neb.; nephews, Patrick and Brett Guth of Torrington; two uncles, Michael (Laura) Wray of Fremont, Neb., and Patrick (Katie) Wray of Omaha, Neb.; and two aunts, Rosemary (Dale) Wilhelm of Iowa City, Iowa, and Jackie Perry of Buffalo. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
