FORT LARAMIE – Memorial services for Thomas S. Jankowski, 84, will be held a 10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 3, at the Fort Laramie Presbyterian Church with Rev. Beth Wilson officiating.

Tom died Dec. 21, 2012 at his home in Fort Laramie and cremation has taken place. Private family scattering of the ashes will take place at a later date.

A memorial has been established to the family to assist with funeral expenses. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home and friends may send condolences to the family at www.colyerfuneralhome.com.

Tom was born Jan. 31, 1928 in Chicago, Ill., the son of Stanley and Mildred (Johnson) Jankowski. He grew up and received his early education there. He joined the Merchant Marines when he was 16 and served during World War II and the Korean Conflict.

After his discharge from the military he came to Wyoming in 1961, He met and married Annette Paules on Oct. 22, 1963 in Wheatland. He worked as a welder in many places in Wyoming and lastly as a security guard at Old Fort Laramie.

Tom enjoyed many hobbies among them hunting, fishing, drawing, painting and black powder shooting. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of the National Rifle Association.

Tom is survived by his wife Annette of Fort Laramie; two sons Tom Jankowski and his wife Deena of Rock Springs, and Eric Jankowski and his fiancé Michelle Thompson of Hot Springs, S.D.; two daughters Tonia Jankowski of Guernsey, and Mary Hoy and her husband Trampus of Wheatland; 10 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister.
