Lovilia, Iowa – Jeanne (Beary) Church, age 57 of Lovilia, died Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
Jeanne was born January 22, 1955 to John Francis and Dorothy Irene (McGrath) Beary at Smith Hospital in Albia. She married Ted Church on May 3, 1980 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Weller, IA. They were blessed with two children, Andi and J.T.
A graduate of Albia High School, class of 1973, Jeanne went on to receive her Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from the University of Iowa. She worked as a dental hygienist in Morton, Wash., for 10 years and also Torrington for 13 years.
Jeanne was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Albia. She was a very giving person and enjoyed volunteering. She was a certified softball umpire, a volunteer at the local emergency food bank, and was very active in her church. Jeanne enjoyed the community theatre, singing and was a lifelong learner. Most important to Jeanne was her children and family. They were everything to her.
Jeanne is survived by her husband, Dr. Ted Church, M.D. of Lovilia; children, Andi (Skip) Hancock of Rockport, Texas and J.T. (Chelsea Chavez) Church of Las Vegas, Nev.; five sisters, Kathy (Carroll) Woollums, Cheryl (Denny) Crall, Jackie (Paul) Maddy, Barbara (Wayne) Rosenkrans, and Carole (Ron) Wycoff; and six brothers, Dr. John (Bianca) Beary, Michael (Marilyn) Beary, Bernard (Vicky) Beary, Bill (Cindy) Beary, Mark (Angie) Beary, and Paul Beary. She is also survived by numerous relatives and many friends in many communities.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents; and mother-in-law, Cleeda Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Friday, December 28, 2012, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Albia, with Fr. Michael E. Volkmer, C.PP.S. officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
Visitation will open to the public at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2012, at Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Jeanne’s family present throughout the day and evening. A rosary will be led at 4 p.m., provided by St. Mary’s Altar and Rosary Society, with a Christian Wake Service beginning at 6 p.m., Thursday evening at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Rose Catholic Church or Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
