TORRINGTON – Norman E. DeMott, 75, of Torrington passed away Thursday, Nov. 29, at his home.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Central Church of Christ in Gering, Neb., where he was a lifelong member. Pastor Ken Beauchene of Torrington will officiate.

Norman was born March 15, 1937 in Gering to Norman R. “Buzz” and Eleanor (Graham) DeMott. He attended Gering Public Schools and graduated from Gering High School.
Norman married Sharon Hardt Nov. 17, 1959. She passed away June 15, 1994. On Sept. 23, 1995 Norman married Barbara M. (Morgan) French, and they made their home in the Torrington area.
Norman was the Manager of the Goshen Irrigation District for a number of years. He was a member of the Gering Volunteer Fire Department Old Timers Club and was on the Gering City Council for 12 years.
Norman is survived by his wife of 17 years, Barbara; son, Jim (Beth) of Torrington; daughters, Terri (Tom) Lovell of Torrington, Laura (Don) Newcomb of Gilbert, Ariz.; step-children, David (Angie) French of Magnolia, Texas and Linda (Alan) Heilbrun of Gering; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Clayton (Linda) DeMott of Gering ; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Norman in death are his parents and a nephew.
