Robert Austin “Bob” McDaniel

BOULDER, Colo. – Robert Austin “Bob” McDaniel, 83, of Boulder, Colo., died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at Wynwood assisted living facility in Boulder.

Mr. McDaniel was born Aug. 11, 1929 in Scottsbluff, Neb. the son of Harry Austin and Maud Avery (Bright) McDaniel.

Surviving are three sisters, Roberta Noble of Olympia, Wash.; Betty Jo Hertzler of Torrington; and Vena Margaret Runyan (Wayne Runyan) of Westminster, Colo.; and one sister-in-law, Kathryn McDaniel of Loveland, Colo. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ward Emery McDaniel, and two brothers-in-law, Harold Noble and Myrlan “Bud” Hertzler.

He earned his Ph.D. in October 1962 from the University of Kansas at Lawrence, after which he was a professor of chemistry at Michigan State University until his retirement.

The Rev. Steven Seng will conduct a memorial service at the United Presbyterian Church in Torrington, Thursday, Dec. 6 at 2 p.m., followed by a committal service in the Valley View Cemetery in Torrington. Reception time follows at the church.
