Lancers drop two in Salt Lake City

Eastern Wyoming College’s Prescott Williams scored 19 points in Saturday’s 74-73 loss to Snow College at the Salt Lake City Community College Thanksgiving Classic last weekend.

SALT LAKE CITY – The Eastern Wyoming College (EWC) Lancers basketball team dropped two-straight at the Salt Lake City Community College (SLCCC) Thanksgiving Classic last weekend in Salt Lake City.

On Friday, the Lancers lost 85-69 to the host SLCCC Bruins.

Sophomore guard Ryan Wilson got the Lancers off to a quick start with a 3-pointer off a Bruins turnover, and the Lancers extended their lead to as many as five in the first five minutes of the game.

The Bruins took their first lead with 14:21 remaining in the first half at 14-13.

Three minutes later, EWC regained an 18-16 lead thanks to Andre Norris’s trey.

Midway through the first half, SLCCC took the lead for good and pulled away for the 16-point victory.

Jonathan Doss led the Lancers with 19 points and nine rebounds. Wilson (11), Norris (11) and Jordan Dick (10) also scored in double figures.

For the game, EWC shot 43.1 percent from the field, while allowing the Bruins to shoot 59.6 percent, and the Lancers went 8-of-16 from the free throw line.
