TORRINGTON – A helicopter whirred several feet above the water tower near Banner Health Community Hospital on Monday morning. It wasn’t transporting a patient, but important components for Goshen County’s information technology infrastructure.

County IT Director Gary Meerkreebs said eight out of 10 antennas on top of the “high zone water tower” will be replaced as part of an ongoing improvement project. The antennas to be replaced currently use a technology called point-to-point (p-2-p) secured wireless and run between 18 and 24 megabits per second (mbps), and 54 mbps under the best conditions.
