Thomas Maurice Strong

Modified: Wednesday, Nov 7th, 2012

July 22, 1953-Nov. 2, 2012

LINGLE – Thomas Maurice Strong was born in Stromsburg, Neb. July 22, 1953 and died at home in Lingle Nov. 2, 2012. He is survived by his wife, Manon; daughter, Megan Strong of North Africa; son, Noah Strong, of Casper; and son Nathan Strong, and wife Cheyenne, of Huntley.

He is also survived by his father, Kenneth Strong of Stromsburg, Neb., and all his siblings, as well as countless friends who have been impacted by his life. Most that knew him considered it a privilege, and he always had a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye.

He was an adoring husband and father and passionate and intentional about the discipleship of his family and the irreplaceable role of a husband and father in the home. As an advocate for families, he never passed up an opportunity to put other things aside to put others first. Not only did he lavish his time on his own family, but he delighted in serving others and in pouring his life into young people, teaching and training through life’s teachable moments.

He was a “Jack of all trades,” as the son of a veterinarian/farmer/rancher and grandson of an inventor, he could turn his hand at almost anything. He was an avid outdoorsman, and, over the course of his life, he worked in construction, camp ministry, firefighting, outfitting and guiding. Meanwhile, for the past 20-something years, he had run a taxidermy shop out of his home in Lingle.

However, Tom would tell you that he considered all these things as inconsequential compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus as his Lord! Even the upright life he lived he viewed as nothing in comparison with the righteousness that comes through faith in Christ alone (based on Philippians 3:7-9).

Services will be held at North Hills Baptist Church in Lingle on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012 at 10 a.m.
