CASPER – Ryan Wilson hit one of his three 3-pointers for the Eastern Wyoming (EWC) Lancers to extend the teams lead to 23-14 over the No. 11-ranked Casper College Thunderbirds with 11:24 remaining in the first half.
From that point, things went quickly downhill for the Lancers in the 87-57 season opening loss on Thursday.
Over the next three minutes, the Thunderbirds started to heat up.
Casper hit four straight 3-pointers to take its first lead of the game at 26-23.
Lancer sophomore McKay Blackburn ended a four-minute scoring drought, bringing the Lancers back within two. A minute and a half later, the Lancers tied the game at 27 with 5:25 left.
In the final five minutes of the half, the Thunderbirds hit four more treys to take a 42-33 lead into halftime.
