Lancers split in Casper

Posted: Wednesday, Nov 7th, 2012

Eastern Wyoming College’s Jonathan Doss drives the lane and attempts to get a shot off during last Thursday’s 87-57 loss to Casper College in Casper. Doss scored eight points in the loss, but he scored 12 points on Friday against Impact Academy.

CASPER – Ryan Wilson hit one of his three 3-pointers for the Eastern Wyoming (EWC) Lancers to extend the teams lead to 23-14 over the No. 11-ranked Casper College Thunderbirds with 11:24 remaining in the first half.

From that point, things went quickly downhill for the Lancers in the 87-57 season opening loss on Thursday.

Over the next three minutes, the Thunderbirds started to heat up.

Casper hit four straight 3-pointers to take its first lead of the game at 26-23.

Lancer sophomore McKay Blackburn ended a four-minute scoring drought, bringing the Lancers back within two. A minute and a half later, the Lancers tied the game at 27 with 5:25 left.

In the final five minutes of the half, the Thunderbirds hit four more treys to take a 42-33 lead into halftime.
