Six locals earn all-state honors

Photo No. 1, Southeast’s Shelby Burroughs, photo No. 2, Torrington’s Avery Madden and, photo No. 3, Lingle-Fort Laramie’s Dallie Forkner earned all-conference and all-state awards following successful seasons and strong showings at the state tournament last weekend in Casper. Also picking up all-state honors were Southeast's Hallie Burkart, Torrington's Shai Schaefer and LFL's Kylah Meyer.

TORRINGTON – After a successful volleyball season by Torrington, Lingle-Fort Laramie and Southeast high schools, a total of 12 student-athletes earned postseason awards.

Torrington’s junior Avery Madden and senior Shai Schaefer earned both all-conference and all-state honors.

Last weekend alone, Schaefer led the Lady Blazers with 63 kills, including the final kill in the title match, 40 digs, 10 blocks and eight aces. Six of her 10 blocks came in the championship game. Madden also put up impressive numbers during the state tournament, adding 53 kills, 44 digs and five blocks.

The all-state selection was Schaefer’s second.

Lingle-Fort Laramie had six players voted for all-conference. Seniors Kassandra Aguallo, Dallie Forkner, juniors Kaylee Greenwald, Kylah Meyer, Shaylee Rickard and sophomore Natalie Booth all received all-conference honors. Meyer and Forkner also earned Class 1A all-state awards.
