Letter to the editor: Events to remember on Election Day

Posted: Wednesday, Oct 10th, 2012

Many of us older persons and maybe some of the younger ones remember the saying “fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.”

I am sure most of us also remember when in 2010 Democratic Congressman Bart Stupak and the gang of 12 refused to vote for the passage of the HHS health-care bill because of abortion coverage.

In order to get the vote of Stupak and the gang of 12, President Obama signed an executive order stating no abortions would be included in the health-care bill. Obama signed the agreement because without these votes the bill did not have had enough votes to pass.

With its passage, Obamacare as it has come to be known covers abortion. This abortion and birth control coverage was publicly touted at the Democratic convention and our president has affirmed it publicly many times under the claim of women’s health care.

For those who voted for Obama in the past or are now listening to what he is saying in his campaign I remind you of another old saying “A man’s word is his bond.”

Sadly this president’s word is not worth the paper it was written on. You might want to remember this when you vote this November.
