Letter to the editor: God sends disasters as warnings

Posted: Wednesday, Oct 3rd, 2012

America was established as a Christian nation.

The Founding Fathers understood the absolute necessity of Godís blessings to keep our great and free country from falling the way every other great nation has throughout history. The Bible teaches that we are plagued by sin and under Godís curse. We are in desperate need of Godís forgiveness before we can be blessed.

Corporately we have murdered millions of unborn babies and called perverted relationships ďmarriageĒ while our lawmakers look the other way. Individually we are guilty of slandering our neighbors, lying, stealing, fornicating and envying things that other people have.

He sends disasters like droughts, wildfires, and economic crisis to warn us of His punishment for these sins if we donít stop. If we harden our hearts and refuse to obey Him we remain under His curse. But we are promised forgiveness and can expect blessings if we heed His warnings, repent and seek Him.

But any olí god wonít do. God only blesses us through the sinless work of Christ on our behalf.

Mohammed, Buddha, Confucius and Krishna all died in sin and are still in their graves. But our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is the only sinless Man in the history of the world who claimed to be God and rose from the dead to prove ďI am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through MeĒ (John 14:6).

May God give us grace in America to repent and trust in Christ for forgiveness so that we may once again enjoy Godís bountiful blessings.
