LINGLE – Betty Lashley, 80, died on Sept. 27 in Lakewood, Colo., with her children by her side.
Betty was born on Aug. 22, 1932, in Hoskins, Neb., the daughter of Clarence and Mabel (Benedict) Uttecht.
She graduated with a teaching degree from Chadron (Neb.) State College and taught for a number of years in Lingle. Betty retired after a fabulous career teaching a multitude of children to read (one of her passions).
She loved to read, travel (she visited all seven continents), try different foods and experience different cultures. She was a fabulous mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Betty was a member of Lighthouse Ministries and loved God with her whole heart. She will be missed by many.
Betty is survived by children, Connie (Ray) Vargas, of Bakersfield, Calif., John (Tracy) Meeker, of Lakewood, Colo., and Denise (John) Harrison, of Acworth, Ga.; grandchildren, Morgan, Jeni, Alisha, Casey, Brittany, John III and Haley; great-grandchildren, Lily, Elijah, Brant, Breleigh, Violet and Leo; and siblings, Cindy (Steve) Hoernlein, of Panama City, Fla., Camille (Gary) Takuski and Larry Uttecht, both of Mitchell, Neb.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Maxine Case; and husband, Harold Lashley.
Funeral services were held Oct. 2 at Lighthouse Ministries in Torrington with Pastor Rick Carroll officiating. Cremation followed services and burial will be at a later date.
