TORRINGTON – Floyd Albert Wood, 54, of Torrington, died on Sept. 24 at Banner Health Community Hospital in Torrington.
Floyd was born on Sept. 8, 1958 in Casper, the son of Willis and Patricia Rose (Portz) Wood. He moved at an early age to eastern Nebraska, where he received his education.
After graduation he worked at packing plants in eastern Nebraska. He worked at Harris Lab Studies for many years in Nebraska. He moved to Torrington in 1995 and started working for Valley Pump Service and then for the sale barn. In 2007, he began work as a tree trimmer.
Floyd enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and anything outdoors. He liked watching wrestling and was an avid coffee drinker.
Floyd is survived by his spiritual wife, Darla Grimes, of Torrington; stepdaughters, Crystal Grimes, of Wheatland, and Melissa Grimes, of Torrington; brothers, Russell Wood and Roger Wood, both of Torrington, and Edward Wood; sisters, Mary Wood, of Torrington, and Ronda Wood and Lisa Wood; 10 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Taylor Caswell.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28 at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gary Flom officiating.
Cremation has taken place. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home, and friends may send condolences to the family at colyerfuneralhome.com.
