In honor of her mother

Photos/ Taryn Walker - Amy Fales had 11 inches of hair cut off and donated to Locks of Love on Sept. 11 at The Class Act salon in Torrington. This wasn’t just a normal donation; it was in honor of her mother, Rita Griggs, who battled stage three inflammatory breast cancer for 22 months. She was diagnosed in November 2010 and her daughter has been by her side every step of the way. “I still remember when she went with me to buy wigs – she’s always been supportive and she made this decision on her own, for me,” Griggs said.
