Local man’s body found in canal

SIOUX COUNTY, Neb. – The Nebraska State Patrol is working with Torrington police after a body was discovered Monday in the Pathfinder Canal north of Mitchell, Neb., in Sioux County.

According to a release from the Nebraska State Patrol, a passerby discovered the body in the canal at about 8 p.m. Monday. Authorities have identified the deceased as 49-year-old Joseph Salazar, of Torrington. Salazar’s wife reported him missing earlier Monday to the Torrington Police Department.
