Sept. 4, 1957 – June 30, 2012

TORRINGTON – Kristine (Kris) I. Bowyer, 54, of Torrington, died June 30.

She was born Sept. 4, 1957, to Tom and Barbara Burleson.

Kris married Clay Bowyer in Roswell, N.M.

She was employed for 18 years as a medical assistant and billing/insurance specialist for Lutheran Health Systems in Los Alamos, N.M., before retiring in 1995.

Kris received her high school diploma in 1976 by graduating from Roswell High. She received her associate degree in medical assistance in San Antonio.

The couple moved to Torrington from Los Alamos 20 years ago. She was a member of United Methodist Church in Torrington.

Abiding Kris’s wishes cremation has taken place.

Kris enjoyed many outdoor activities, including camping and fishing with her family. She also enjoyed sewing, crochet and cross stitch. Kris was an avid swimmer and competed in many events including the Junior Olympics.

She was active in the United Methodist Church, where she held Bible study in her home every week. Kris was diagnosed with MS in 1994, which limited her activities and forced her to quit work.

She is survived by her father, Tom; husband, Clay; two daughters, Kendra (Bowyer) Dugger and spouse, Jeromie, and Rebecca Bowyer; and grandchildren, Calista, Carleigh and Audrina Dugger.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara.

Celebration of Life Memorial will be held at a later date.

Memorials may go to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation and United Methodist Church of Torrington.
