TORRINGTON Due to hot and dry conditions and the limited number of firefighters available, Torrington Volunteer Fire Department Chief Jeremy Wardell has canceled the the city's July Fourth fireworks show.
The show had been scheduled to take place near Industrial Park Road at about 9:30 tonight.
I can confirm the fireworks display has been canceled, Goshen County Fire Warden Bill Law said Tuesday.
Personnel from the TVFD are currently helping fight the Arapahoe Fire in Albany County.
Tracy Pragnell, LaGrange Volunteer Fire Department chief, said the fireworks display scheduled at LaGrange on Tuesday night would be held.
Pragnell said the show would be held between two irrigated pivots. In addition, two fire trucks and firefighters would be at the event.
It's green all the way around us, he said. We're not anticipating any problems.
Due to the fire ban approved by the Goshen County Commission on June 19, no personal fireworks are allowed in the county. The penalty for being caught setting off fireworks carries a $750 fine.
