Letter to the editor: Anniversaries give deeper meaning

Modified: Wednesday, Jun 27th, 2012

June 20th was the third anniversary of my son, Jimmy Scheer, and his friend, Kolten Aberle’s death. Family and friends held a candlelight vigil in their memory that evening at Jirdon Park.

For me June 20th used to be a change in seasons – spring was ending and summer was just start starting.

Now it means the beginning of another year without our boys.

We would like to thank our many friends and family who have supported us over the years.

However, I do sometimes get asked “When will you get over this?”

My answer is never.

Our memories are what we have of Jimmy and Kolten. New memories cannot be made now.

Last year Johrdan Stone’s family came to realize firsthand our heartbreak as well as their own on June 20.
