TORRINGTON – The Torrington Tigers scored four runs in the first inning and two in the second but still fell to Gering, Neb., 14-6 on Wednesday night.
Mark McKee reached base four times in the game. McKee picked up two hits, while walking once and being hit by a pitch in five at-bats.
All of the Tigers offense came in the first two innings.
Despite the six Tiger runs in the first two innings, Gering kept pace scoring five runs.
Gering regained the lead in the fifth scoring three runs, while adding four runs in the seventh and two in the ninth.
McKee pitched 4-2/3 innings striking out three while walking three. Coffelt came in relief for the second straight day going 4-1/3 innings walking three and fanning only one.
