Sophomore Jessica Brown led the Eastern Wyoming College women with 21 points, nine rebounds, five assists and four steals in an 84-57 loss to Northeastern Junior College Tuesday in Sterling, Colo.
Brown finished 5-of-12 from the floor and 11-of-14 from the free throw line, but the Lady Lancers were just 17-of-62 (27 percent) for the contest as a team.
Eastern Wyoming committed 17 turnovers and forced 21 while both teams pulled down 46 rebounds.
Koel Hall notched 12 points on 4-of-9 shooting for the Lancers while April Johnson tallied nine points and Danielle Brown added six points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals. Sarah Smith had four points while Jayde Schelling finished with three points and Noelle Jones added two points and two assists.
In men’s action Tuesday, the Lancers were outscored by 14 points in the second half and fell to the Plainsmen 85-71.
Eastern Wyoming connected on 52 percent (26-of-50) from the floor, including 5-of-15 from three-point range, and were 14-of-21 from the free throw line while the Plainsmen were 35-of-72 from the floor (4-of-18 from long distance) and 11-of-16 from the charity stripe.
The Lancers committed a season-high 32 turnovers, but held a 36-34 rebounding edge despite being short-handed.
Eastern Wyoming traveled to Sterling with seven players and back-up point guard Fola Adeleke was forced to move to the No. 5 spot in the starting lineup.
Adeleke responded with 13 points and three rebounds.
Winston Harris led the Lancers with 16 points and four rebounds while Ivan Simic added 12 points and six boards. Zach Young tallied 12 points and three rebounds while Lance Korell had 10 points, four rebounds and three assists.
T.K. Kairys finished with six points, five assists and three rebounds while Matt Schackow had two points and two rebounds.
