Torrington’s Jason McManamen made his official debut for the University of Wyoming Cowboys last Saturday in a 62-42 win. McManamen recorded two rebounds in 12 minutes of action for the Pokes.

LARAMIE – Just one game into the regular season and Torrington High School graduate Jason McManamen already understands his role with the University of Wyoming (UW) Cowboys. The freshman said he will do whatever the coaching staff asks him to do to help the team get wins.

“I didn’t know what to expect coming in as a freshman,” McManamen said. “Now when I get in the game, I try to focus on playing defense and getting stops.”

The 6-foot, 5-inch freshman guard has made a quick and surprising impact for the Pokes.

McManamen averaged 9.3 points and 17.4 minutes in three exhibition games this summer in Canada.

“He was the surprise of Canada,” coach Larry Shyatt said. “He surprised his coaching staff, as well as his teammates, in a positive way.”
